i Gigi Cafe

When I lived at Brunswick Place I was recommended this little cafe a couple of minutes walk away at the i gigi shop located on the Western Road next to Brunswick Square. i gigi is not a well known shop, as its basically an upmarket boutique / general store. If you want some posh stuff for the kitchen, an antique chair or an unusual gift then this is the place to go, as the quality is absolutely amazing (just like the price).

Go upstairs and you will find a hidden treasure of a cafe.  It’s pretty small and has about five or six tables (so be prepared to wait around if you go during the busy times of the day).

The kitchen runs the length of the cafe and is a kitchen worktop with lovely cupboards all the way along with a hob, grill etc. This is all the space they need to produce amazing food for all the customers and I really don’t know how they cope, as I need that much worktop space to cook for me!

The menu has a good variety of options, from homemade soup to open sandwiches. My girlfriend went there the other day and raved about the scrummy bubble and squeak with poached egg, fresh rocket and bacon lardons (that’s strips of bacon to you and me). However be warned don’t look on the other side of the room as there is another worktop with the biggest cakes, scones and meringues you have ever seen! The price in the cafe is also pretty very good as the quality of the produce is very high. The bubble and squeak my wife had was £7.50 and worth every penny.

If you’re up that end of Hove and feeling peckish then drop in and try them out.
