For our wedding anniversary we decided to book into a Brighton hotel for the night. I’d often driven past the Neo hotel, seen good reviews, so decided to book this local independent hotel.
The Neo Hotel is apparently a boutique hotel, but I wasn’t quite sure what a boutique hotel was, so had to Google it! Apparently the definition is “a stylish small hotel, typically one situated in a fashionable urban location”. So yes the Neo hotel is definitely a boutique hotel as it only has nine rooms and is located on Oriental Place, down from the Western Road (by Taj supermarket) and a two minute walk from the West Pier.
Parking in Hove is never easy, especially if you are parking for 24 hours. Nearby is Regency Secure Parking which is reasonably priced, but is normally fully booked a number of weeks before. So instead we got the bus in which was a nightmare! However once at the hotel we could relax and have a lovely time.
On arriving at The Neo we were welcomed, checked in and was shown to our room. We had room two which is a very elegant room, well decorated, comfortable. The room has its original shutters, which I absolutely loved! It was like going back in time using them! The bathroom is what I would call an elegant hotel bathroom with a good size shower with an overhead shower head.
The bed was very comfortable, so no worries there for any anyone reading this review. There is a small bar downstairs which we didn’t have the opportunity to use, but it appears to be adequately stocked. At the entrance of the hotel is a huge bowl of mints and lollipops which was a nice touch. The hotel has free WiFi for guests and you also have access to the Neo’s dvd library if you fancy watching a film.
For dinner you have a lot of choice in the area around The Neo, such as all the restaurants in Preston Street, along the seafront and Western Road. However we went to the Lion and Lobster pub that has a restaurant on its upper floor. I will write a review for them soon, but they are one of my favourite pubs in the area.
The breakfast at The Neo is amazing and I mean it! Have a look at the photos above of the breakfast I had. You get the normal choice of tea and coffee, but you get two courses for breakfast. I had the cup with muesli, yoghurt, nuts and a raspberry sauce. I then had the American style pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. Both courses were gorgeous and was unable to fit any toast in with their quality jams.
So overall our stay at The Neo was excellent and I would definitely recommend it to you and don’t forget the pancakes for breakfast 😉
