We took the opportunity today to have a little trip away on my day off, so decided to go to to Lancing (I was there the other day seeing my chiropractor) as there is a really good cafe/restaurant on the beach called Perch. It was a bit foggy going over there but it soon cleared and turned out being probably the nicest day of the year so far. The parking at Lancing Green is currently free and from April it’s really cheap (about £1.50 for the day!!). There is a nice path that goes along the coast (we only walked as far as the sailing club) and spent quite a long time in the playground which is on the Lancing Green.
Just behind the green is Perch Cafe and Restaurant, which is in a new building right next to the beach. Perch is at a stunning location and the perfect place to relax. There is an inside area with plenty of tables and can take large groups also. Outside the is a covered veranda with seating all around it as well as casual seating on the beach itself.
There is a breakfast menu (one day I want to go there and have the pancakes!!) until 11.30 and then a daytime menu which is not massive but a really good variety and everything we tried was really good.
Michelle had a “posh” fish finger sandwich and I had a piri piri chicken burger. The staff are really friendly, efficient and food comes in a decent time. One thing we really loved was the tea! So many times you order a pot of tea for two and you get a measly amount. At Perch you get a huge pot and the staff happy to refill it with hot water!
If you are over that way or fancy a little trip along the coast then I would highly recommend Perch. I see they do steak evenings and other “pop up” restaurant nights during the month.
Keep up the good work Perch!
